Knitted Wool Fabric

The Australian Council on textiles and clothing (TFIA) will promote a more detailed review of the China ASEAN Free Trade Agreement. It is reported that Chinese knitted wool fabrics are dumping in Australia.

A review of Chinese knitted fabrics imported from Australia confirms that a large number of woven jacquard fabrics are sold at a price of 5 US dollars per kilogram, which is only half the market value.

Jo Kay Locke, executive director of TFIA, said she was surprised when she received an e-mail from a TFIA member.

Kelok said that the price of textile and clothing and footwear (TCF) industry is half of the market price of this fabric at present.

Ms. Kelok said that the import tariffs on these TCF products were reduced (Textiles decreased by 5%), the market was unregulated, and imported products were almost or unmonitored.

Some Australian manufacturers seem to cooperate with this practice, which is very much like dumping.

Ms. Kelok said she was very worried that if the discount fabric flooded the market, Australia's knitting industry would be severely damaged.

It could destroy the industry, she said.

At the same time, on Thursday, TFIA invited the National Retail Federation representative, Australian Competition and consumer committee Australia standard to hold a meeting in Melbourne to discuss the advantages of a sustainable Australian brand and supply chain.
