Indication of origin

The idea is very popular in the European Union and has been endorsed by the European Parliament and the Executive Committee, reflecting the unease of foreign competition facing economic difficulties and unemployment.

Surprisingly, most of the countries in the world have already set up similar signs, including Japan and Mainland China, as a means of assisting domestic industries to compete against foreign manufacturers. The United States also had tableland designation in 1930s.

According to the European Union survey, about 25% of consumers will choose the place where the products are made.
