The government statistics released the consumer price index for 2011 August in September 22nd.

According to the composite consumer price index, the overall consumer prices in August 2011 increased by 5.7% compared with the same month a year ago, which is lower than the corresponding increase in July (7.9%).

In August 2011, the price recorded a year-on-year increase in the category of tobacco and liquor (an increase of 20.3% in the composite consumer price index and an increase of 22.6% in the class a consumer price index, mainly due to a forty-one point five percent increase in the tobacco tax). Food (excluding meals for meals) increased by 11.7% and 12.2% respectively, housing (up 8.3% and 8.2% respectively), clothing, footwear (7.5% and 6.8% rise respectively), outgoing meals (5.7% and 5.9% respectively), traffic (increased respectively, 5.9% and 5.9%), miscellaneous items (respectively, rising and falling) and miscellaneous services (increased separately).


On the other hand, in August 2011, prices recorded year-on-year decreases in categories of electricity, gas and water (down 16.2% in the composite consumer price index and 18.8% in the class a consumer price index, mainly in the form of electricity subsidies by the government).
