Half Of The Imported Garments Tested In Shanghai Failed In The First Half Of The Year.

Shanghai entry-exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau released the first half of this year's import clothing testing data show that Shanghai Port imported clothing failed rate of up to 55.8%.

Substandard products are mainly from South Korea, Bangladesh, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and so on, the main problem is the appearance and label is not qualified.

Since January 1st this year, the HS code of 301 clothing products has been formally pferred to the import statutory inspection catalogue.

In the first half of this year, 11369 batches of clothing were imported at Shanghai port, and the value of goods reached 220 million US dollars.

Shanghai entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau sampled 5625 lots of goods.

The unqualified items mainly involve color fastness, pH value, azo dyes, formaldehyde and so on. The quality of imported garments is not optimistic.

In view of the high reject rate of imported garments, the Shanghai entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau has comprehensively controlled the airports and harbors such as Shanghai airport, Wusong, Waigaoqiao and Yangshan, focusing on strengthening the inspection and supervision of safety, environmental protection and other projects, and found that the unqualified products were resolutely returned or destroyed.

It is understood that in the first half of this year, the special operations carried out by the Bureau concentrated on the destruction of 79 batches of nearly 10 million of the unqualified high-end products.

By the end of June, Shanghai port had destroyed 118 batches of substandard products and returned 80 batches.
